Blow Dryer Mani as seen on Neverland Nail Blog

Hey Everyone.. I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready for a new week.  I have a colorful and fun mani to share with you to start off the week.   I saw this Blow Dryer Mani on Neverland Nail Blog and thought it was so neat and unique, I just had to try it!  Lindsey comes up with such fun ideas..

Blow Dryer Mani:

For this mani, I started with two coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme followed by China Glaze Fast Forward  Top Coat.  I let that completely dry, then used the following colors mixed with polish thinner with the blow dryer: OPI Funky Dunkey, OPI Pink Flamenco, China Glaze Shower Together, Bettina Sunrise, and Bettina Mojito.  Lindsey shared a step-by-step tutorial, so just follow her instructions and you'll end up with a super fun mani!! :)

Reverse Gradient using OPI and Dollish Polish

Today I have a quick post of a Reverse Gradient I wore earlier this week.  I used OPI Red Lights Ahead..Where? for the red base and then sponged on Dollish Polish Welcome to Rapture..

My pinky and index finger have a bit too much Welcome to Rapture at the base of my nail, but overall I enjoyed this mani.  A few coats of China Glaze Fast Forward smoothed the grittiness of the glitter and I really love this tomato-y red.. Red Lights Ahead... Where??  I haven't worn much red lately, so this was a nice change.  :)

We're having people over tonight for my husband's birthday.  My nails are currently naked... What should I do with them??  I'm thinking I'll try one of the new Spiderman Colors I finally got my hands on... hmmm?

Weekly Water Marble 4/27/12

Sorry, my water marble is a day late this week.  Yesterday I posted a Tape Mani I did along with a bunch of ladies in a nail polish group on facebook.

Today's marble was meant to resemble this flower:

The orange polish was hard to work with, so the pattern didn't turn out exactly how I wanted, but I still like it..

For this marble, I started with a base coat of China Glaze White On White.  For the actual marble, I used White On White, China Glaze Sunshine Pop, OPI Shorts Story, and SinfulColors Clementine.  I should have known to stick with OPI or China Glaze because Clementine was thicker and didn't spread as well as the others.  I still like the final product... it was just a little more time consuming than others..

Group Tape Manis...

So, me and some lovely ladies in a Nail Polish Group on facebook came together once again for a Group Manicure.  We did a Group Water Marble and plan on doing more themed manis in the future. :)  They're so much fun!!  Today's Group Manicure is all about tape...just do a mani using any type of tape.. I decided to try my striping tape for the first time..

Striping Tape Mani:

For this mani, all polishes used were Hot Ticket by thebalm.  I applied 2 coats of each polish (from thumb to pinkie: Sky Blue Right Past You, Lilac Any Sense, Don't Pink and Drive, Hella Yella, and Orange You Glad You're Not Blue).  When each finger was completely dry, I applied the striping tape (I wish I would have used one or two more pieces on each finger so I'd have more stripes.. oh well, next time)  I then applied a quick coat of I Take My Coffee Matte and Black (also by thebalm).  I carefully removed the striping tape and Voila.. there you go..  :)

Layla Hologram Effect Retro Pink

A pretty pink holo for Pink Wednesday.  I'll admit.. I'm not too keen on holos like everyone else, but I heard these new Hologram Effect polishes by Layla were amazing, so I had to have just one, so of course I chose the pink one..

Ok, so this one has an awesome linear holo effect.  The sun wasn't supposed to shine today, but as soon as it popped out I grabbed my bottle of Retro Pink and applied this super girly mani.  I really need an aqua basecoat because I had to apply four coats of Retro Pink to reach full opacity and the pretty holo shine.. (I used Posche).

**These polishes are expensive.  I bought mine on amazon because I had leftover credit on a gift card.  I think this bottle was $15.  I'm pretty sure you can find them at Ulta also.**

Rescue Beauty Lounge.. Under the Stars

I have a gorgeous deep navy shimmer to share with you today.  I've been on a "blue kick" lately.  I'm sitting here looking at all the polishes I've swatched in the past few weeks and a lot of them are blue..

Under the Stars is so perfect.  Every time I get upset about the price of these polishes, all I have to do is wear one again and I remember just how amazing the colors and the formula actually are.  Under the Stars is  highly pigmented.  It was almost a one-coater, but I applied two coats just out of habit.  It's full of blue and silver shimmer and it really does remind me of the night sky full of stars!

Rescue Beauty Lounge (or RBL) has a lot of gorgeous polishes to choose from here on their website.  Most polishes are $18, but I see the new polishes are listed at $20.  You may want to get in on a "group-buy" to save on shipping because I think it's $7.50 for orders under $100.  I know that's pretty steep for polish, but the formula is truly exceptional in all three RBLs I own.

NailVenturous Lacquers Humble Bee

It's Monday in late April and we're supposed to have a snowstorm today... say what???  Ugh!!  Luckily, I have a bright and cheerful polish to share with you today called Humble Bee by Amy at I'm Feeling Nail-venturous.  This polish is amazing!!  Look..

NailVenturous Humble Bee:

Humble Bee has bright yellow and black matte glitter in a clear base.  Pictured above is three coats of Humble Bee followed by a coat of Gelous, then topped off with China Glaze Fast Forward Topcoat.  This is another one of those "simple, but unique" polishes and I absolutely love it!!  When you wear a polish like this or like Floam (another one of Amy's creations), people will ask you a zillion times: "Where'd you get that??!"  I love all of Amy's polishes and I really love Amy as a person.. she has such a passion for her work and she supports all other "Indie Polish Makers" with that same passion!

These polishes are hard to get a hold of.  You'll have to keep an eye out for Amy's Etsy shop to re-open.  Be sure to like Amy's facebook page because she updates her polish sales there too.

Candy Mani/Glitter Sandwich

Friday's here and I have a fun mani to share with you today.  Whether you call them a "Glitter Sandwich" or a "Candy Mani", either way.. they're fun!!  The concept is basically covering a glitter with a jelly-based polish so you can still see the glitter glistening through the jelly..

For this mani I used Sally Hansen Smooth and Perfect "Air" as the base, Candeo Colors "Dive Bomb" as the glitter middle, and Essie "Marshmallow" as the jelly topcoat.

Weekly Water Marble 4/19/12

It's Thursday and time for another water marble.. Yay!!  I'm on Pinterest often and come across tons of pics with cool color combos.  I'm not sure why, but I really liked the colors in this picture of a Robin's Nest and eggs...

Here's is my Robin's-Nest-and-Eggs inspired marble:

Kinda cute, right?  Only a few bubbles this time, so I was happy with that, too.  I swear, OPI and China Glaze work the best for me when I water marble!  For this marble I used OPI Alpine Snow for the base and for the marble I used Alpine Snow, OPI Over the Taupe, OPI Did You Ear About Van Gogh? and China Glaze For Audrey.

Cult Nails Bad D.N. and Lynnderella The Telltale Heart

Pink Wednesday... already.  This week is flying by for me. Cult Nails recently had a $5 sale on all their polishes after they reached 5,000 facebook followers.  There was a limit to three per person, so I picked up Captivated, Bad D.N. and Wicked Fast Topcoat.  Today I'm showing you Bad D.N. and Lynnderella The Telltale Heart.

Cult Nails Bad D.N.

Yep, I have a billion pink creams and I still can't get enough.  If I had to pick a shade and a finish to wear the rest of my life, it would be a pink cream!!  Bad D.N. is almost jelly-like, though.  Pictured above is three generous coats.  Bad D.N. is a "bad batch" of the original, Devious Nature.  I don't have both polishes to compare, but Bad D.N. looks more pink and Devious Nature seems almost raspberry-like.  Regardless, I love this one!!

My last name finally came up for invoicing from llarowe and I was able to purchase my Lynnderella's!!

Lynnderella The Telltale Heart over Bad D.N.:

From afar, The Telltale Heart looks more pink in the bottle, so maybe Bad D.N. wasn't the greatest choice for a base, but I wanted to make the pink "pop" a bit more.  The base of TTH is pink, but all the glitter is more of a dark lilac.  I'm thinking this one would look great over OPI Do You Lilac It?.  I applied two coats of TTH over Bad D.N. followed by a coat of Gelous, then topped it with China Glaze Fast Forward Topcoat..

MAC Salad Dressed and OPI Pirouette My Whistle

Hey Guys.. today I have my very first MAC polish called Salad Dressed to share with you!  I don't know why it took me so long to purchase one of these, but I'm glad I did.  The formula is amazing!!  I decided to dress Salad Dressed up a bit with Pirouette My Whistle.. :)

Salad Dressed is from the MAC Shop MAC Cook Collection.  It's a medium blue-green creme with flawless formula and application.  Pictured above is two coats.  Salad Dressed isn't too original, but it's pretty and so easy to work with.. I barely needed any clean-up.

Pirouette My Whistle over Salad Dressed:

Meh.. I wasn't too impressed with PMW.  I feel like there are a zillion glitters like this one.  PMW has a clear base with tiny silver glitter and white hex glitter.  Formula-wise it's great, just kinda dullsville for me.  It's the only glitter from OPI's NYC Ballet Soft Shades Collection.

Monday Group Water Marble

Happy Monday Everyone!!  Over the weekend, some lovely ladies and I did a "group marble".  We all posted pics of our water marble in a facebook group on Sunday (yesterday), and decided to do a blog post of all our gorgeous marbles today!!  :)  I chose a technique like this one by Collette, but with different colors..

Striped Marble:

This marble matches my blog!!  :)  I think pink, black and red is my favorite color combo..  This marble is cool.  I finally got "the hang" of making the striped pattern by the time I got to my pinkie and thumb, so I think they look the best (I did them last).  For this marble I used Sally Hansen Bubblegum Pink, China Glaze Hey Sailor and China Glaze Liquid Leather..

SoFlaJo Buttercup and Fields of Clover

Happy Weekend Everyone!!  I can't think of two better polishes to share with you on the rainy dismal day than these two cheerful beauties.. Buttercup and Fields of Clover from SoFlaJo's Spring Flowers Collection..

Two Coats of Buttercup alone:

Jody at SoFlaJo describes Buttercup as: "a soft shimmery yellow."  I love yellows, but they usually don't go well with my skintone, but Buttercup is soft and subtle enough to make the exception.  I love how delicate it is.  It's creamy, yet shimmery..like a buttercup :)  Pictured above is two coats.

Fields of Clover over Buttercup:

Jody describes Fields of Clover as: "a lively green based micro-glitter bursting with greens, golds, purples and pinks."  I love a good micro-glitter and Fields of Clover may be one of my favorites!  Application was smooth and flawless.  Pictured above is two coats of Fields of Clover over Buttercup.  The glitters sparkle so pretty in different light.  This one's a "keeper."  :) .. I've been waiting all week for this post!!  This polish is so amazing.  I love when a polish is simple and unique all at the same time. I stumbled across Seuss when I saw a "nail mail post" by someone in a polish group on facebook.  I instantly ordered Seuss after seeing that post..

Seuss may be THE PERFECT glitter suspended in a jelly!!  I love everything about this polish!!  Seuss has medium red hex, large silver hex and tiny shimmer in an amazingly beautiful blue jelly base.  I love how you can "see through" the base to the layers of glitter beneath :)  Pictured above it three generous coats of Seuss.  The glitter applied evenly and I didn't have to shake the bottle forever like some glitters before application.
