Hey Everyone!! It's time for another group-post and the theme for this one is "Geometric". I don't know why this one was so difficult for me because there are a zillion different geometric shapes, but I just had a hard time coming up with a concept. I found this cute mani by Nails by Carol and decided to try my own version..
Geometric Mani:
For this geometric block mani, I started with a base of LVX Callais, allowed that to completely dry, applied striping tape, then carefully applied Zoya Elisa, Zoya Song, and SpaRitual Heliotrope.
It's time for another group post.. this one is called "Tutorial Tuesday." Here's how it works.. You pick your favorite manicure tutorial and try your best to follow each step to achieve an awesome mani.. Some great gals and I voted on this theme and I'm excited to give it a go..
Ahh, the dreaded "Braided Fishtail"... I've seen this one done mani times and decided to try it for Tutorial Tuesday.. I found two tutorials to base this mani on.. I followed this simple blog post from rebecca likes nails...and for a more detailed tutorial I found this one from MissJenFABULOUS on youtube:
Here's MY Braided Fishtail Mani:
OMG-- it looks so easy, but it wasn't.. not for me anyway. It gets confusing and really thick toward the end of the nail. I'm glad I chose to only try this on two nails. I like my middle finger better than my ring finger.. (you can see where I screwed it up a bit with the pink about halfway up the nail on the left). I like this mani, but I definitely need more practice!
**For this mani, I used OPI DS Radiance, Lex Cosmetics Atlantic, and Hello Kitty nail polish in Pink Summer**
Happy Independence Day!! I really do love this holiday... it incorporates some of my favorite things-- America, Summer, Family, Friends, Food, Fireworks, and our local trashy carnival-- lol!! Here is a red, white, and blue Gradient Dot Manicure inspired once again by... yep, you guessed it-- Sarah at Chalkboard Nails. This post is also part of a group mani done with some pretty talented polish pals..
My Independence Day Dot Gradient:
For this 4th of July Mani, I started with two coats of Orly Au Champagne. After that was completely dry, I did my blue dots first with China Glaze Blue Year's Eve, then my red dots were done with Zoya Carrie Ann. (duh, should have done the red first..I think the blue would have covered the red better.. oopsie). Yikes, my nails are kinda tiny and I shouldn't have added as many dots. My thumb looks the best because it's much wider than my other fingers.. All in all, I like this one!!
Happy Monday Everyone!! Today's post is another group post with a bunch of my favorite polish pals. The theme is "monochrome", so it's aptly name Monochrome Monday!! I decided to create another splatter mani. I really received a lot of compliments on this splatter I did with the new Orly Neons, so I thought it would be fun to try another...
My Monochrome Splatter:
I couldn't help myself, I had to add pink!! I broke the rules. lol I recently did a black and white straw mani, so I wanted to add a little color to this one. :)
Ok, first off... People calling Wednesday "Hump Day" is a major pet peeve of mine. Don't ask me why, I've always just thought the saying was kinda dumb... yeah, I get it, we're half-way over the "hump".. LOL.
It's time for another group post aptly named "Holo Hump Day." I'm on vacation, but I swatched my first Catherine Arley last week, so I'm using that polish for my post..
Catherine Arley 800:
I like red holos, but this one isn't that great. It kinda reminds me of OPI DS Reflection. 800 has a warm coral tone and the holo effect isn't very strong. 800 is pretty though. I like it indoors just about as much as I like it in the sun. Pictured above is two coats without topcoat
The long weekend is almost here!! Yay!! I have a gradient mani to show you today. Gradients are popping up everywhere so that same group of ladies from my past group posts and I decided to do out next group post all about gradients!! :) I've only done a few, and although they're quite easy (I used this tutorial by The Nailasaurus), this one didn't really turn out quite like I wanted, but this week has been hectic, so I decided to just go with it..
Group Gradient:
Oooh, pink and red..my favorite combo! :) I started with a base of Orly Basket Case, then sponged on the gradient using Basket Case, Deborah Lippmann It's Raining Men, and China Glaze City Siren. I've seen many gals use holos for their gradients and I love them.. I will definitely try that next time!!
**Happy Memorial Day Weekend to my American Readers!!**
Happy Weekend Everyone!! Today I have a "splatter mani" to share with you. It's another group-post I participated in with a bunch of fun gals from a facebook group. This is only my second attempt at a splatter and I really like it. (You can see my Electrop Splatter here.) I just got my hands on the new Orly Neons, so I decided to use them for this splatter..
Orly Feel the Vibe Splatter:
It's funky, right?? Kinda retro?? It was fun. I didn't even make that big of a mess. I started with two coats of Orly White Out. After that was completely dry, I cut two straws in half and used each of the four small straws to dip in to each polish. You just dip the tip of the straw in to the polish, hold it about four or five inches from your finger and make a quick "blow." I used Orly Beach Cruiser, Melt Your Popsicle, Glowstick, and Skinny Dip-- all from the new neon "Feel the Vibe" Collection.
***I'll be posting my Weekly Water Marble tomorrow.. I have a special group post today***
So, me and some lovely ladies in a Nail Polish Group on facebook came together once again for a Group Manicure. We did a Group Water Marble and plan on doing more themed manis in the future. :) They're so much fun!! Today's Group Manicure is all about tape...just do a mani using any type of tape.. I decided to try my striping tape for the first time..
Striping Tape Mani:
For this mani, all polishes used were Hot Ticket by thebalm. I applied 2 coats of each polish (from thumb to pinkie: Sky Blue Right Past You, Lilac Any Sense, Don't Pink and Drive, Hella Yella, and Orange You Glad You're Not Blue). When each finger was completely dry, I applied the striping tape (I wish I would have used one or two more pieces on each finger so I'd have more stripes.. oh well, next time) I then applied a quick coat of I Take My Coffee Matte and Black (also by thebalm). I carefully removed the striping tape and Voila.. there you go.. :)
Have a great day!!!!
(PS--Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband) :)
