31DC2012 Day 13, Animal Print

Happy Thursday Everyone!  I have a quick post of my version of nail art for Animal Print day.  I've had these Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips for a while now and never got around to wearing them and today's challenge presented the perfect opportunity!!

Are they supposed to be a blue leopard??  maybe a blue cow??  lol... regardless, they're cute and so easy to apply.  I did this post using Sally Hansen's Pedicure Effects a while back and I wore them for a week.  They weren't even wearing or peeling, I just wanted to change my mani.  I only wore the above strips for a day (because I had to change my mani), but I'm sure I could have worn them much longer..  They're supposed to last "up to 10 days" and I believe it!!

Weekly Water Marble 9/6/12

It's Thursday and time for another marble.  I swear, I am running out of ideas for combos, but my friend Erika showed me Colourlovers.com and I tried to do something with these colors, but my "darker blue" is much more green than shown in that palette.

Weekly Water Marble 9/6/12:

The sun was shinning through the window at just the right angle, so all of these pics are in direct sunlight.  I started with a base of OPI What's With the Cattitude?.  For the actual marble I used three OPIs.. What's With the Cattitude?, Thanks A WindMillion, and Girls Just Want to Play.  The fourth color used was Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Bittersweet.  I was reluctant to used the Sally Hansen because my marbles don't usually work as well when I mix brands, but Bittersweet mixed perfectly with the OPIs.  I really should buy more Sally Hansens!!  I like the color combo and the end result of this week's marble.  What do you think?  I'll see you next week with another...  :)

Happy Monday Everyone!  Today I have a little something different when it comes to pedicures..  Sally Hansen Pedicure Salon Effects...

--Warning!!  Feet Pictures below...  Stop here if feet gross you out!!  LOL--

Man, it's really difficult to snap a decent picture of your feet!!  This was my first time trying any type of nail strip and they were pretty easy to apply and wear-time was awesome.  I had these on for a week and could have worn them longer, but I was ready for a pedi-change.  The name of the design I tried was "Toe-riffic" and it's such a fun pattern.  You just have to find the correct size strip for each toe, peel the backing , line it up, press it on and file off the extra. 

 A couple pointers-- 

A)  Make sure your toenails aren't cut too short because you need a little length to file off the extra strip.  (I always cut my toenails really short, so I'm glad I paid attention to the directions and didn't cut them really short before application)

 B)- Start with your little toes first.  I started with my big toes and kinda messed up my right one.  Once you get the hang of application, it's easy, so I should have started with my little toe so my mistake wouldn't have been so noticeable.

I really like these Pedicure Effects..  they were fun, easy, and summery!!  :)

Sally Hansen Black Tie... (with a punch)

Oooh.. I like this polish.  Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Black Tie is a black polish with blueish purple and green duochrome.  I don't have many Sally Hansen polishes but I was really impressed with this one.  I really couldn't capture the duochrome in my pictures, but in real life... it's A-MAZING!!  After wearing this polish for a couple days, I just had to add some glitter, but let's take a look at Black Tie on it's own first..

Black Tie:

I guess you can see the green and purple a little in the last picture.  I just love this polish.  It's so chic and classy, yet hip and modern!!  The formula is awesome.  Above is two coats..

I didn't want to take Black Tie off, so I gave it a little punch for a day.  I added three coats of Kleancolor Afternoon Picnic, one coat of Gelous, then one coat of Essie's Matte About You Topcoat..

There's a party on my nails ;)..

Kleancolor Afternoon Picnic consists of small, medium and large multi-colored glitter in a clear base.  This glitter is a biaaaa-tch to work with.  I think I dunked the brush in the bottle a zillion times to get a nice amount of glitter to attach.  I do like the finished product...  It was fun to wear for a day.  I can only take glitter in small amounts as it gets on my nerves and I'm still "all glittered out" after the holidays. ;)

Skeptical Saturday Mani.. Sally Hansen Yellow Kitty

Hey All... This is my second "Skeptical Saturday Mani."  To sum things up, I basically pick a color I'm skeptical about, swatch it and see how it actually looks on my nails and with my skin tone.  Here is last Saturday's Mani with Zoya Maya.  I ended up like Maya.  Let's see if that happens with this color..

Here is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure.. Yellow Kitty:

Blech.. I do NOT like Yellow Kitty on my nails!  I tend to stay away from yellows most of the time.  I feel like they "drain my skin color."  My skin looks so pale and I just really don't care for yellow on me.  I do like the Complete Salon Manicure Line by Sally Hansen, though.  I like the unique brush and the formula was nice.  Maybe I will just save Yellow Kitty for water marbling or nail art..

I SHOULD be skeptical about this one...  What do you think?

Zombie Zest and Ick-A-Bod-y

Hey Kids! Yesterday I did a quick post with Mummy May I from China Glaze. Today I swatched 2 more polishes that came with the same gift set as Mummy May I. They are called Zombie Zest and Ick-A-Bod-Y. Cute Names, huh??

First up is Ick-A-Bod-Y... This polish has black and bright orange glitter in a black jelly base. The above picture is indoors with a flash. This is 4 coats!!!

I usually don't care much for orange, but after applying all 4 coats and a top coat, I kinda liked this one. It's very Halloween-ie! It was a pain to remove, though and it had such a grainy texture.

Up next is Zombie Zest:

Hello, Split Pea Soup Green!!! Yuck! I don't like it! The formula was watery and it felt like I applied 100 coats to reach full opacity.. (Actually, I think it was more like 4)

This color does absolutely nothing for my skintone. I couldn't take it off fast enough.. blah. On a happier note, I am getting better at taking pictures if I do say so myself :)

I also want to share a picture of yesterday's Mummy May I. I barely had it on for 24 hours and look:

I've never had a polish chip that fast!! Granted, I didn't use a basecoat, but still.. that's some major chipping!

Sarah, a friend of mine just introduced me to Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri Top Coat. OMG-- Where have I been? This stuff is amazing. It really was dry after 30 seconds and it's so shiny. (I applied on Ick-A-Bod-Y, not on Zombie Zest).

Insta-Dri is good stuff!!
