Messy Easter Egg Water Marble?

Happy Weekend Everyone!!  I have another water marble to share with you today.  I just picked up three new polishes from China Glaze's Avant Garden Collection (Pink-ie Promise, Tart-y for the Party, and Keep Calm, Paint On) and wanted to use them in a water marble.  I used the three I just mentioned plus Lemon Fizz for the following marble:

Messy Easter Egg Marble:

I've always said that OPI is my favorite brand to use in water marbles, and I'm sticking to that statement after trying all China Glaze again.  I almost didn't complete this marble because the colors weren't spreading nicely, but I kinda liked the "messy" look they created, so I continued with my entire hand.   There's no rhyme or reason to this marble; it's just kinda messy, but I like it and it's perfect for Easter. (maybe I should have saved it and posted it closer to Easter--oh well, I'm early) ;)  I'm sure I'll attempt a marble for St. Paddy's and I'll grab some OPIs for that one.

Enjoy your weekend!!

China Glaze Tranzitions

Hey Everyone!!  It's New Year's Eve and I have three fun polishes to share with you today!  They're China Glaze Tranzitions!!

"Out in January, China Glaze Tranzitions is a revolutionary new color-changing nail lacquer that reacts when a clear top coat is applied.  Almost any top coat will work (we recommend China Glaze Fast Forward), changing the color from one shade to another for a stunning effect."

L to R: Duplicityy, Split Perso-nail-ity, Shape Shifter and Fast Forward Top Coat

Duplicityy:

Pictured above is just one coat of  Duplicityy.  I really like this chalky mint green.  The formula is nice and full opacity is reached with just one coat.

Duplicityy with topcoat:

Instead of just adding topcoat, I used China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat and a dotting tool to create some fast and easy nail art with Duplicityy!  This polish is perfect if you want a fun design with little time.  The topcoat changes the mint color to a shiny teal!

Split Perso-nail-ity:

Split Perso-nail-ity is a really pretty dusty pink without the top coat.  Again, only one coat is required for full coverage.  I personally like this color best out of the three I'm sharing with you today, but that's really no surprise because I'm a pink-lover!

Split Perso-nail-ity with top coat:

I used a dotting tool to apply the topcoat again with Split Pers0-nail-ity. I do recommend using a topcoat that isn't a "fast dry" if you're planning on creating any kind of nail art that takes a little time because Fast Forward became sticky before I finished creating this design. I like the "transition" with Split Perso-nail-ity.. the bold fuchsia is so bright and I like the contrast of the two pinks!

Shape Shifter:

Shape Shifter is listed as a "smoky violet", but it seems more of a charcoal to me with out the top coat.  I like this color, but the formula wasn't as nice as the other two.  I only used one coat, but this formula is a bit thinner and any imperfections (ex: ridges) are more visible with Shape Shifter.

Shape Shifter with topcoat:

Shape Shifter transforms to a royal blue (not really a dark purple as listed) with top coat.  I tried adding stripes with the topcoat at first, but the contrast in colors wasn't strong enough for my liking, so I just added a single coat of topcoat instead.  Make sure you allow the fist coat of Shape Shifter to dry before you add top coat because it will smear if the first coat isn't dry (see my middle finger).  I like this one the least of the three I've shared with you, but it's still a pretty color.

Happy 2013!!!!

Christmas Water Marble

Merry Christmas Everyone!!  I have a Christmas-y Water Marble to share with you today.  I watched this tutorial from My Simple Little Pleasures for inspiration.  My nails are no where near as long as hers, so the "poinsettia" design doesn't really look like hers..

Christmas Water Marble:

I used China Glaze for this marble-- Hey Sailor and Holly Day.  I added Out The Door- Northern Lights Holographic topcoat and I wish I hadn't.  I liked the marble better without the topcoat and I smeared my thumb a bit right after adding topcoat..oh well.. Merry Christmas Everyone!!  (Like the background?  I was wearing Old Navy Pajama Pants that had "HO! HO! HO!" all over them ;)

China Glaze Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away

Happy Tuesday Everyone!!  Today I have some pretties to share with you from China Glaze's Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away Collection...

Igniting Love:

Igniting Love is described as a "Hot Tamale Red Creme."  I didn't care for this one while I was applying it.  The formula was a little "greasy" for a creme, but after it dried, Igniting Love has a gorgeous glossy finish.  I wouldn't consider this a "true creme", but the formula was ok and the final results are beautiful.  Pictured above is two coats of Igniting Love.

Bend Over Backwards:

Bend Over Backwards is described as "Pepper Red Shimmer."  I really like the formula with Bend Over Backwards, it's almost a one-coater and the consistency of the polish is perfect.  It practically applies itself!  The subtle orange undertones really make this one beautiful!  I have two coats of Bend Over Backwards in the above pictures.

Creative Fantasy:

Creative Fantasy is described as "Grape Neon."  Ummm, no.  I don't agree with that description, but I do really like Creative Fantasy.  It applies like a jelly and dries almost matte, but I wouldn't quite call it "neon."  I really wish I could have captured the true color of Creative Fantasy.. it isn't as "blue" as the pictures... in real life, it has red tones and is a "true purple."  The formula is quite sheer; I have three coats of Creative Fantasy in the above two pictures.

Get Carried Away:

Get Carried Away is described as "multi sized black and red collage glitter with black creme."  Ummm.. another description that isn't accurate.  There's also silver glitter and I see no red glitter.. it's pink. (which is fine with me because I love black and pink together).  The base in NOT a creme.. it's sheer black.  This formula was hard to work with.. you really have to dab the polish on.  After two coats of Get Carried Away, a coat of gelous, and two coats of topcoat everything was smooth and shiny.  This polish is just a lot of work.  I guess if you have the patience, it's worth it.

Water You Waiting For:

Water You Waiting For is described as "Shimmering blue, green, and purple."  I like Water You Waiting For.  Application was easy and the formula was a piece of cake to work with.  You will have to use a few coats of topcoat because it does dry gritty.  I have two coats of Water You Waiting For followed by two coats of topcoat in the above two pictures.

Hanging in the Balance:
direct sunlight

Hanging in the Balance is described as "Cerulean blue creme".  Whoa.. I included three pictures of this one because it's so beautiful!!  It's a little darker a tad more teal in real life.  Hanging in the Balance is so stunning!  I will use this many times with nail art.  One word of caution: Hanging in the Balance is a STAINER!!  It didn't stain my nails too badly, but be careful not to get too much on your cuticles because it's sooo hard to remove!!  Pictured above is two coats of Hanging in the Balance.

**Overall, I really like the six polishes I've shared with you from the Cirque du Soleil Collection...especially Bend Over Backwards and Hanging in the Balance.  China Glaze really makes the most gorgeous cremes and all their formulas are usually excellent with each polish they create.**

China Glaze Holiday Joy 2012

Happy Wednesday!!  I have four colors from China Glaze's Holiday Joy Collection to share with you today.

"The holiday season: it is truly the most wonderful time of the year – for nails!  From gorgeous glitters to rich crèmes, ‘tis the season to add sparkle and shine to any manicure and pedicure.  Celebrate the season in colour with the new China Glaze® Holiday Joy collection!"

Winter Holly:

Winter Holly contains micro fine forest green & gold and scattered holo glitter in a clear base.  I used three coats in the above pics followed by two generous coats of topcoat to smooth out the grittiness.  Winter Holly is very pretty, especially if you catch it in sunlight!  This is truly a "Christmas Glitter"-- very sparkly and festive.

Blue Bells Ring:

Blue Bells Ring looks much lighter and silver-toned in the bottle (at least mine does).  On the nail, it becomes a gorgeous deep blue shimmery foil.  The formula is absolutely amazing.. it's a one-coater!!  I think I may have a dupe or two of this one from last season, but it's still a great color if you own nothing like it!

Merry Berry:

Merry Berry is a stunning berry creme with a shimmery finish.  It's highly pigmented yet you can still see visible nail line after two coats.  Merry Berry's formula isn't as thick as most cremes.  I like this one.. it's just not extraordinary though.  It didn't stain like a lot of reds this highly pigmented, so that was a plus.

Pizzazz:
Pizzazz over Blue Bells Ring

Pizzazz over Merry Berry
Pizzazz over Blue Bells Ring

Pizzazz over Merry Berry

I have two coats of Pizzazz over Merry Berry and Blue Bells Ring followed by topcoat in the above pictures.  Pizzazz is your classic multi-colored glitter in a clear base.  It has a great formula and glitter ratio, it's just not unique.  I definitely like it better over Merry Berry.. the glitter seems to stand out a bit more.

**I like all four polishes I've posted.  Winter Holly is definitely my favorite..I own nothing like it and it's such a fantastic holiday color.  All the others are pretty with great formula, they're just not "unique", but that's OK because a lot of you don't own tons of polish like I do, so they may be unique to you.**
