The Polish Bar Holiday 2012

Happy Friday Everyone!!  The end of the week is finally here!!  Yes!  I just want to say I was so happy to see all the No H8 Manis everyone created yesterday.. the turnout was amazing!!  There really are tons of wonderfully kind beauty bloggers out there!! :)

Today I have a few polishes from The Polish Bar's Holiday Collection to share with you. The Polish Bar is one of my favorite lines of Indie Polish.  I was thinking of posting my Top 5 Indie Polish Makers of 2012 sometime in December and The Polish Bar would definitely make that list!!

Glowing Sapphire:

Glowing Sapphire is a gorgeous royal blue jelly with scattered iridescent mirco glitter.  It's such a pretty sapphire blue that reminds me of a winter night's sky.  The iridescent glitters are so pretty in sunlight.  I have three coats of Glowing Sapphire in the above pics.  This one is pretty much amazing.. I did not want to top it with any glitter because it's perfect alone!

Shining Teal:

Shining Teal has scattered holo micro glitter and teal hexes and shreds.  I found a base color that matches the glitter perfectly..  it's Essie Where's My Chauffeur?!!  I love this combo!!  The glitter glides on in one easy coat and I just love the scattered holo glitters!!  Shining Teal would look great over navy blue or black too.  I just love a nice versatile topper!  :)

Berry Shimmer:

Here we have another combo I just love!  It's Berry Shimmer  over China Glaze Innocence.  I love the hot pink shreds in Berry Shimmer...they go perfectly with purple shreds and hexes!  Berry Shimmer is a sister polish to Shining Teal.  The subtle holo shine is amazing with Berry Shimmer too!! Again, I only used one coat of Berry Shimmer in the above pics.

**I love the fact that this holiday collection isn't all reds and greens!  It's a collection full of polishes you can wear year round.  You can buy the entire set of six polishes from this collection HERE and they're all "year round polishes."  I have NO hesitation telling you all to buy these and any other polish from The Polish Bar.  Janice, the creator makes great stuff  and her customer service is second to none.  Go pick up some beauties from The Polish Bar today!!**

No H8: Eradicate Hate in the Nail Polish Blogger Community

Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay.
Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color...even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community.

**The concept of people picking on someone because they think that person's manicure is messy, totally blows my mind!  I'm against bullying of any sort, but come one people...we're talking nail polish here!!  Learn to love, not hate.  Say kind words or say nothing at all**

direct sunlight

For my purple mani, I chose to create a jelly sandwich with Nubar Grape and Shimmer Polish Cassandra.  I started with two coats of Grape, a coat of Cassandra, then one more coat of Grape :)  You can see in sunlight this mani leans toward pink and in natural light it has more of a blue hue.

LVX Fall 2012 Collection Swatches, Review and a Water Marble

Hey Everyone... I'm writing this post while watching the Presidential results.  It's about 10pm Tuesday night and we still don't know.  I'm had my eyes and ears glued to the TV, but had to take a break and write this post..

LVX is a new polish line.  The Fall 2012 Collection is their second line of polishes.  I reviewed a few from their first line here and was totally impressed!!  Let's see how I like these three from the Fall Line...

LVX FALL 2012 COLLECTION:
Prussian, Koko, and Legendaire
Prussian:

Prussian is so stunningly gorgeous!!  It's a highly pigmented blue creme with just a hint of green.  I guess you could call it teal.  In the bottle, Prussian looks a bit more green.  I love the formula with Prussian.. it's so creamy smooth!  I used two coats and I was a bit scared to take this off because I assumed it would stain because it's so highly pigmented, but removal was not a problem.  Prussian is the prettiest blue creme in my collection!!

Koko:

with flash
Yes, I love this one too.  I absolutely love chocolate brown cremes and Koko is gorgeous!  The first coat of Koko went on kinda streaky and dried kinda dull, but after a second coat, everything evened out and the finish was bright and shiny.  Koko is much more "chocolate-y" in sunlight and darker indoors.  I think I only own one other chocolate brown creme, so Koko will get much use from me!

Legendaire:

Legendaire is a creamy gray with strong lilac undertones.  This color doesn't mesh well with my skintone, but that's really the only negative thing I can say about Legendaire.  Out of theses three polishes, Legendaire has the best formula!  It's a one coater!!  I usually add a second coat just to be safe, but I didn't have to with Legendaire.  I can't think of another polish with a formula a nice as this one!!

So, of course I had to try a water marble with these beautiful cremes...

LVX Water Marble:

These three colors marbled together pretty well.  Koko spread in the water easier than the other two.  I think that's because the formula isn't as thick.  I kinda "dinged" my pinkie finger by the cuticle, but besides that, I was happy with the results!!

** I can't say enough good things about LVX polishes!  Even the bottles are beautiful!!  I see good things happening with this line of polish and I already can't wait for their next line!!  Yes, the price is higher, but these polishes are top notch in my book and are totally worth their price!!**

**LVX  polishes can be purchased at shoplvx.com for $16 each, BUT here is an EXCLUSIVE BLOGGER PROMO you can use for the entire month of November...Use BEAUTYBLOG20 and receive 20% OFF your entire order!!**

DIFFERENT Dimension Santa Baby Collection

Happy Tuesday and Happy Election Day to everyone in the US!!  Get out and vote.. it's gonna be a close one!!

Today I have three polishes from DIFFERENT Dimension's "Santa Baby" line.  Each polish name is part of a lyric from the Christmas song, "Santa Baby." (Cute concept :))..

I'll Wait Up for You Dear:

I'll Wait Up for You Dear is a classic Christmas glitter... plain & simple green and red glitter in a clear base. A classic.  The formula is fantastic.  The glitter consistency is dense, so you can wear I'll Wait Up for You Dear alone with two coats (on pinkie and index) or as a topper with one coat.  I have one coat over Barry M Mint Green on my ring finger and one coat over Venique Wingtip White on my middle finger.  Each finger is topped off with a coat of topcoat. I love IWUFYD over the mint.. it looks like a Christmas Cookie!!

I've Been an Awful Good Girl:

I've Been an Awful Good Girl is so pretty and girly.  The formula is also wonderful with this one!!  The white base contains pink shimmer and lavender & pink glitter scattered throughout.  I used two coats followed by topcoat in the above pics.  Crelly based polishes are my favorite, so needless to say.. I love this!!

Sign Your 'X' on the Line:

Sign Your 'X' on the Line is a gorgeous gold and silver topper!  It's a great alternative to all those more expensive real gold toppers that are so popular right now, plus this one has the gold AND silver all in one!  I have two coats over Bettina Onix, Venique Wingtip White and China Glaze Poinsettia followed by topcoat in the the above pics. (sidenote: Poinsettia stains SOOO badly).  I really like Sign Your 'X' on the Line over white and the mix of the gold flakies and silver shards is perfect!  I think I'll end up wearing this to a Holiday Party.  :)

**Each and every polish I have from DIFFERENT Dimension is remarkable.  The consistency of each polish is always awesome, application is always easy and the glitter ratio always seems "just right."  If you're thinking of purchasing some Holiday Indies, I'd definitely pick up some from the Santa Baby Collection!**

Ozotic 528

Happy Monday Everyone!!  It's official, I'm a polish hoarder.. seriously.  I have this basket full of untried polishes and every now and then I'll sort through it.  Last week, I found my bottle of Ozotic 528 and realized I have a serious problem.  I mean who would keep this as an "untried" for nearly nine months???  Me!  Ugh!  I think I was waiting for a sunny day to wear it and just forgot about it..  Oh well, at least it was a nice surprise to "find" it again!  It's absolutely gorgeous...

Ozotic 528:

Whoa, 528 is simply amazing!!   It contains multi-chrome glitter in a clear base.  I have one coat of Ozotic 528 over OPI Black Onyx in the above pics.  The glitters primarily change from blue to pink depending how the light hits them, but I see green and purple too.  I think it's time for me to order another Ozotic.. maybe this time I'll wear it before nine months.. lol.

**I just checked and Ozotic 528 is currently in-stock at Llarowe**
**Do you own any Ozotics?  Which are your favorites?**

Have a wonderful week!!!

A few new colors from Pretty & Polished

Happy Friday Everyone!!  I have some new colors from Pretty & Polished to share with you today.  I think my first "indies" were from Pretty & Polished.  Chelsea has been creating beautiful polishes before indies became "all the rage".  She's experienced, creative and I always trust I'm purchasing a polish of great quality when I buy from her..

First up are two polishes from the holiday line that will only be sold as a duo beginning Nov. 9th...

Happy Holodays Duo:
Ruby Holo base alone

The Happy Holodays Duo consists of a beautiful ruby red base with subtle holo shimmer (shown in the above picture).  It's such a pretty cranberry base.  I wore this one alone and it's stunning!!

When you add the red and green holo topper, these two polishes are magical!  The holo shine is gorgeous, but not overbearing.  It's not just a "plain ole green and red."  The glitters have a festive glow that just screams "Christmas!!"  I have two coats of the the red and green topper over the ruby base in the above pics.  The formula was amazing with both polishes!!

Everybody Loves Penguin:

I love Everybody Loves Penguin!!  I love the crelly base and the big black hex glitters!!  This polish has the sheerness of a jelly and creaminess of a creme..  "crelly" bases are my favorite.. I love how the glitters swim around in Everybody Loves Penguin!  Some polishes with a crelly base are sticky and goopy, but not this one.  The formula is amazing!  I have two coats of ELP over Venique Wingtip White (which happens to be a gorgeous white cream), followed by topcoat.  Also, if you're a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, you're gonna love Everybody Loves Penguin!!  This one is also a part of the holiday collection and will be available Nov. 9th.

Pretty as a Peacock:

Pretty as a Peacock has an army green shimmery base with micro purple glitter and small & medium aqua hex glitters.  This polish will be a part of the core line and will be available Wed, Nov 7th.  The turquoise and purple glitters are a pretty combo.  The purple glitter switches to a brighter purple in different light. I have two coats of Pretty as a Peacock followed by topcoat in the above pics.  Again, the formula is awesome and I had no issues with application.

Franken Frosting

Hey Guys... I'm posting late today because I watched American Horror Story last night, became way too scared to sleep, and slept too late this morning to post when I normally do.. Yikes!!

Anyhow, I have yet another new-to-me indie brand called Franken Frosting.  Take a look at their Etsy Store..they have tons of gorgeous polishes!  I have two to share with you today.. Moonlight Ocean and With All My Love..

Moonlight Ocean:

Moonlight Ocean is described as: "A gorgeous blend of holo turquoise glitter, translucent holo glitter and green matte moons all wrapped in to a sheer blue base."  I chose to layer two coats of Moonlight Ocean over China Glaze Blue Iguana followed by topcoat.  Ugh, we haven't had a sunny day in like a week here!  This polish is really pretty, but I wish I could have captured the holo glow in the sun!!  The formula was awesome and application was a breeze!!

With All My Love:

With All My Love is described as: "A beautiful mix of pink holo hex glitter, silver holo squares, and matte red square glitter in a clear base."  Pink + Red = LOVE for me!  It's my favorite combo!!  I love this polish layered over black.  I have two coats of With All My Love layered over OPI Black Onyx followed by topcoat.  I really love the glitter ratio in this one.  Again, I had 0 sun when I swatched this, but you can see the subtle holo shimmer.  I love the matte red squares!!  I'm really loving square glitter these days!!  Perfect formula with this one also!!  yay!

**I'm really loving these two polishes from Franken Frosting!  I can't wait to get my hands on some more!  Here's a link to their Etsy shop again.  Give them a try..  I don't think you'll be disappointed!!**
