I did a guest post....

Check out my guest post I happily wrote for Destany at Confessions of a Sarcastic Mom..

Hi Everyone!  I'm excited to write this guest post for Destany while she's busy writing.  I knew which polishes I would swatch as soon as she asked if I wanted to do a guest post.  This first polish is named after Destany.  It's a franken by our friend, Erika at polish fixation The name of this polish is "Sparkling Pingleberry":

Sparkling Pingleberry is packed full of tiny multi-colored glitter and scattered round glitter is a rich grape-y base... It's such a fun color!!  I love frankens.  I haven't made any yet myself, but it's pretty cool having some polishes that are one-of-a-kinds!!

Next up is a franken made by Destany herself.  It's called Panic Under Pressure II":

I saw a post of the original Panic Under Pressure in a nail polish group Destany and I both belong to.  I asked her if she could re-create some for me and she came so close that she named it Panic Under Pressure II.  Panic Under Pressure II and Sparkling Pingleberry are quite similar.  Panic is darker than Pingleberry and it contains tons of  small pink glitter.  I love both of these polishes and hope to obtain many more polishes mixed up by my fellow polish-lovers!!

Thanks for asking me to write this post, Destany.  It was fun!  Good luck in you writings!!

November Birchbox

Hey Everyone.. I wanted to post some new polishes I just received in the mail, but I'm sicker than a dog today (why do people say that?  Dogs aren't always sick) so I'll just be doing a boring post about my birchbox. LOL.  I'm still on the fence about birchbox.  I feel like I like half of the items each month.  November is only my 3rd month, so I'll stick with it for a while.  For those of you who aren't familiar with birchbox, click here.

You could probably just send me a box full of bubble wrap and I'd be happy because I love nail mail (or anything that isn't a bill)
Everything is always packaged so cute.  I like surprises, so it's like Christmas once a month. :)
Shalimar Perfume by Guerlain...  I like this perfume.  It's a bit too strong for me, but not that bad.  I wouldn't spend the $84 on the bottle, though.
I do love this Eucalyptus body lotion by Thymes.. it's awesome!!  $24 for a large bottle (9.25 fl oz) is worth it.  This bottle is perfect for my purse.  I want to try the Borghese  Hydrating Mud, but my skin is so sensitive, I'm not sure what I'll do.. I may just give it to a friend.
A Zoya!!!  One of my favorite zoyas at that.  It's Sooki and it's my current favorite red!!  Zoya polishes are amazing!!  I want a billion of these cute little bottles!!  As for the "Two Paper Dolls" paper coasters... eh, not so much.
Last, Thymes Kimono Rose body lotion.  I don't like  rose scent, but the lotion is nice.  I'm glad I got the larger size in the eucalyptus!!

What did you get in your November Birchbox?  I think they make like 22 different boxes, so there's something for everyone!!

My first attempt at Gradient Nails...

Yesterday, I looked at some tutorials on youtube and on other blogs about "Gradient Nails".  It seems each tutorial was different.  "Gradient" is defined as: rate of inclination or declination of a slope.  The colors you use are supposed to get either lighter or darker as you apply each polish...

Let's see how I did:

I chose Yachty Yadda by Color Club as my base color... so far, so good..

... and here's where is goes slightly wrong.  Yes, my second color (OPI's Pink Flamenco) is darker than YY, but it's too dark.  I should have picked a lighter pink. (By the way, Yachty Yadda is the only color I painted on, the rest I did with a make-up sponge)  Originally, I picked Essie's Mod Square as the second color, but I was afraid it wasn't that much darker than YY...  Oh well, I'm not going to stop now..

Next, I applied butter LONDON's Queen Vic.  I like this color, but it's a jelly (or close to it), so it didn't show up as well as I would have liked... maybe I should have sponged on a second coat..

The last color I sponged on was Julep's Gayle.  This was a good choice.  Gayle has an awesome formula.

Lastly, I sponged on Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Strobe Light glitter.  I tried to apply the glitter a little more thick at the tips of my nails.

There you have it.. my first Gradient.  Yes, it qualifies as a Gradient Manicure... next one will just be a tad more subtle.  Have you tried a Gradient Manicure yet?  What colors did you choose?

China Glaze Eye Candy Collection...

Hi Everyone...I've been waiting for these glitters to become available for a while now.  As soon as I saw I could order them through The Industry Source, I jumped right on it.  There's been so much hype about this new collection, but is it worth it??  Let's see..

Up first are Marry a Millionaire and Material Girl:
Marry a Millionaire, MAM over Zoya Caitlin, Material Girl, MG over NOPI All Kendall-ed UP
Marry a Millionaire alone (top) is such a fun busy glitter!! There is tiny purple glitter in a clear base with tons of small green, silver, pink, gold (and maybe more) bar glitter!  It's crazy and I like it.  You should layer Marry a Millionaire so you can see this glitter party a bit more clearly.
Material Girl (top) and MG over NOPI All Kendall-ed Up... Holy Pink!!  I usually love pink, but this is kinda out of control.  It really wasn't necessary to layer Material Girl as all the small pink glitter and and the larger silver glitter are in a think pink base.  This formula was THICK.. too thick.

Next two are Lorelei's Tiara and Blonde Bombshell:
Lorelei's Tiara, LT over OPI DS Radiance, Blonde Bombshell, BB over CG Champagne Bubbles
Lorelei's Tiara is tons of small silver glitter with larger blue hex glitter.  This formula was OK.. kinda thick.  It's not really original.. it's just kinda mah.  Maybe it would have looked better layered over a different color.
I don't really think I like one thing about Blonde Bombshell except the name!  It was thick and goopey and I just don't care for gold.  The formula is just like Material Girl, except in gold.  It's kinda boring.  Definitely going up for a swap.

Last two are Love Marilyn and Some Like it Haute:
Love Marilyn, LM over Essie French Affair, Some Like it Haute, SLIH over OPI Black Onyx
Love Marilyn is tons of small red  and larger silver glitter in a clear base.  I like it.  It screams "Christmas!"  Love Marilyn could be worn alone with 3 to 4 coats.  Pictured above (left) is only 2 coats.  I like it over French Affair... it looks like a sprinkle cookie. Love Marilyn's formula is nice and smooth.
Some Like it Haute is fun too.  Not original, but fun!!  It's full of small silver and black glitter and larger holographic is thrown in here and there.  Some Like it Haute has a clear base, so layering this one is best.  I like how it shines on OPI's Black Onyx.

Some Like it Haute Reminded me of something.... As soon as I glanced at my Wet N Wild Glitters, I found a dupe (well close enough).. Take a look:
Left- CG Some Like it Haute, Right- WnW Diamond in the Rough
I'm kinda 50/50 with this whole collection.  There really isn't anything "original" about it. (Except Marry a Millionaire).  If you think you MUST have these glitters, check your collection, I bet you have something close to the color you're lemming.

OPI--Route Beer Float (My all-time Fave!)..

I forgot just how much I love OPI's Route Beer Float.  Back in the day, when I had acrylics, I remember wearing this color a lot!!  Throughout the years, I've kept my only bottle in a safe place because this color has been discontinued for a while.  A few months ago, I was able to acquire another bottle of Route Beer Float in a swap, so I decided to quit hoarding it and break it out today....

Yep, I still love it!!  You know when someone asks you the hypothetical question: "If you could only save one of your polishes from a burning house, which would it be?" LOL...  Well, my choice it  Route Beer Float!!

Route Beer float is a creamy, shiny, milky brown that truly is the color of a root beer float.  The first thing I noticed when I opened the bottle was the strong smell.  Route Beer Float was made before OPI polishes became "3 Free," so yeah, the scent is a bit overwhelming... but, on the positive side, the brush isn't pro-wide and I love that!  My fingers are tiny and that pro-wide brush is sometimes hard for me to work with.

You're still my favorite, Route Beer Float!!

What is YOUR all-time favorite polish??   Can you pick just one??

Priti NYC Royale Robe and Nubar 2010...

Happy Wednesday Everyone!!  Today I will be swatching my first Priti NYC.  I was just going to post this one color, but it needed a little "something" to jazz it up, so I grabbed by bottle of Nubar 2010... and I'm so glad I did.

Priti NYC describes their polishes:
Priti NYC polishes are all completely non-toxic and made without toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DHB) and formaldehyde- all known carcinogenic ingredients. The luxury polishes are fast drying, chip resistant, contain a UV inhibitor, and are extremely durable and glossy. They are also completely safe for use on children and moms-to-be. Available in over 100 different shades including metallics, mattes, bright neons, rich darks, classic nudes, and everything in between, limited color selection due to ecological restraints has officially become a thing of the past.

Here is Royale Robe:

I love everything about this color, application, and formula.  This deep grape purple with a blue base compliments my skintone really well.  Royale Robe is creamy, yet shiny.
Look how different Royale  Robe appears in sunlight/flash.  This polish had almost no scent.  It's an amazing color and after swatching my first Priti NYC, I would highly recommend it to others..

I haven't used my Nubar 2010 in a while and  thought it would look pretty over Royale Robe.. I was right..

Is there really a color Nubar 2010 wouldn't look amazing  layered on?  Look at all the flakies in this thick clear base!!  I really love Nubar 2010 and Royale Robe together!!

That's it for today.... except... Have you entered my 50 Follower Giveaway yet???  Hurry up, there are great things to be won!!

Dr.'s Remedy Fall Fever 2011

Today I have three gorgeous polishes from Dr.'s Remedy Fall Collection!  All three of these colors are perfect Autumn shades!!

Dr.'s Remedy Enriched Nail Polish is available for $17 online at http://www.remedynails.com/ or by calling 1-877-323-NAIL.

Today I am reviewing DEFENSE Deep Red, BALANCE Brick, and NOBEL Navy.  Here they are from my most favorite to my least:

My favorite is BALANCE Brick:

BALANCE Brick is a rich creamy red... brick-red just like the name states!!  This formula was perfect.  Almost no clean-up was needed as this polish applied like a dream!!  Pictured above it three coats.  Five  Stars for BALANCE Brick!!

My second favorite is NOBEL Navy:

This formula was perfect, too!!  Look how shiny NOBEL Navy is!! You can see my hot pink camera in my nails!! ;)  Pictured above is two coats!  NOBEL Navy is a classic navy everyone should own!!

My least favorite is DEFENSE Deep Red:

I still like DEFENSE Deep Red.  It's a nice rich red, but application wasn't as easy as the first two.  It wasn't as smooth and with three coats, this color is still a bit streaky.  DEFENSE Deep Red also stained worse than the first two, but it wasn't too horribly hard to remove.
