Random Weekend Indie Spam

Happy Weekend Everyone!!  I have way too many untried polishes, so every now and then I'll grab a random few and swatch away.  I especially have a lot of untried Indies, so here are a handful I recently wore...

Polished Components Mattress Mambo:

Mattress Mambo has a dark base.. darker than brown, lighter than black.  The base isn't a jelly or a creme and it was kinda hard to photograph.  I like the red flakes in Mattress Mambo.  Pictured above is two coats with topcoat.

Polished Components Bubble Bath:

Bubble Bath is extremely gorgeous!  It's not quite a jelly, but it's transparent enough to see the layers of glitter.  The base has great pigmentation and I love the blue and white hex glitter that represents the bubbles. Bubble Bath has pretty shimmer too.  Pictured above is two coats followed by topcoat.
**Polishes Components' polishes can be purchased HERE.**

Lacquerhead Polish Boy Crazy:

Ugh, I'm a sucker for matte glitter AND I love this color combo, so I absolutely love Boy Crazy.  I chose to layer two coats of Boy Crazy over China Glaze Sweet Hook followed by topcoat.  Boy Crazy contains blue, pink, purple, green & red small and medium hex glitter in a clear base..  It's simple, versatile, and gorgeous.
**Lacquerhead Polishes can be purchased here on Etsy.**

The Hungry Asian Sneeze Breeze:

I don't know what took me so long to wear Sneeze Breeze.  I've had it for quite some time.  It's made up of tons of blue and black fine matte glitter in a clear base.  I have three coats in the above photos followed by a coat of gelous, then a topcoat.  It's so pretty, but removal was so hard!
**I'm not sure if Sneeze Breeze is still available, but you can purchase other polishes by The Hungry Asian here on Etsy.

::whimsical ideas by pam:: Nancy's Birthday:

Nancy's Birthday is so much fun!!  I love the shade of pink of the base.  It's a bubble-gum pink jelly packed full of various sizes and colors of hex glitter.  I have two coats followed by topcoat in the above two pictures.  Nancy's Birthday kinda reminds me of Deborah Lippmann's Candy Shop.
**Like ::whimsical ideas by pam:: here on facebook.  Pam takes orders a bit differently.. you email her with your order and she sends you an invoice via paypal**

Sea Lore Ariel:

I have two coats of Ariel layered over Manglaze ILF followed by topcoat in the above pics.  Ariel has a sheer turquoise base with red squares (my fave), purple hex, and small green glitter.  There is a very pretty green shimmer to Ariel also.  I really like the color combo and the glitter ratio with Ariel.. it's beautiful!
**You can purchase Ariel and other Sea Lore polishes HERE.

**I hope you enjoyed my Indie Spam!!  Which is your favorite?? **

Comparison Post..China Glaze No Plain Jane vs SpaRitual Bismuth

Happy Friday!!  I've had a few requests for comparison posts.  I haven't done many as I find it a little hard for me to spot dupes in the bottle.  Recently I purchased both China Glaze No Plain Jane and SpaRitual Bismuth.  They look pretty similar in the bottle, so I jumped at the opportunity to post a comparison..  First, I'll show each polish on it's own..

China Glaze No Plain Jane:

No Plain Jane (from The Bohemian Collection) is a very pretty duochrome that shifts from pink to purple.  The formula is a bit sheer.  I used two coats, but probably should have applied another.  I really like duochromes in the sunlight, but a lot of them are just kinda "meh" for me most of the time.

SpaRitual Bismuth:

Bismuth (from the new Metal Collection) seems to shift more from brown to pinkish with hints of green.  Bismuth is more of a multi-chrome.  It's really pretty, but the formula is very sheer.  Four coats are needed for full opacity.

Comparison Shot:
Bismuth on index and ring fingers, No Plain Jane on middle and pinkie fingers
No dupes here.  As you can see, Bismuth is much more warmer toned with stronger pink/brown shifts (ooh, I should totally compare this one to Models Own Pinky Brown!!)  No Plain Jane leans strongly toward purple.  I like both of these polishes despite their sheer formulas.  Which one do you prefer?  Do you like duo-chromes??

Enjoy your weekend!!  :)

Zoya Ornate Holiday Winter 2012/13

Whoa... there's a new collection from Zoya that's completely amazing!!  I'm talking about The Ornate Holiday Winter 2012/13 Collection!!  Each polish is a beautiful jewel tone with excellent pigmentation.

Ziv:
Ziv

Ziv
Zoya describes Ziv as: "A full coverage yellow-toned metallic gold foil with silver highlights and warm gold flake glitter accents."   I really like Ziv although warm tones don't mesh well with my skin.  Ziv's formula is excellent.  I have two coats in the above pictures.
As soon as I saw Ziv in the bottle, I knew I had to grab my bottle of OPI Goldeneye and do a comparison shot..
Left- Zoya Ziv, Right- OPI Goldeneye
They're close, but Ziv's formula blows Goldeneye's out of the water.  I have two coats of each polish in the above pic.  Ziv is more yellow and Goldeneye is more gold.  Ziv is denser and prettier, in my opinion.

Blaze:
Blaze

Blaze
Zoya describes Blaze as: "A full coverage cool-toned medium mulberry red with a high concentration of fine diamond holographic glitter."  Blaze is the perfect deep berry red for my skintone!!  I just adore the tiny holo specks.. they give Blaze such deep dimension!  Once again, the formula is to die for.  Blaze practically applied itself.  Pictured above is two coats.

Electra:
Electra

Electra

One coat of Electra over Blaze
Zoya describes Electra as: "A micro fine diamond holographic glitter mixed with large silver holographic bar tinsel in a clear base."  Electra is the oddball of this group.  I like the larger holo bar tinsel and kinda wish the smaller glitter wasn't added.  Electra is just a little overwhelming and dense.  A thinner holo glitter topper would have been ideal for me, but I still like Electra.  She's unique and she's perfect for Christmas.. a tinsel-bomb on your fingers!!

Storm:
Storm

Storm
Zoya describes Storm as: "A full coverage, holiday black with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter."  Storm is my favorite of this collection!  I love black bases with glitter and this one is like my dream-polish.  The formula is a dream, the color is a dream and there's just the right amount of glitter in Storm.  Storm can be worn dressy or casual.. she's so versatile!  I have two flawless coats of Storm in the pictures above.

Aurora:
Aurora

Aurora
Zoya describes Aurora as: "A full coverage, medium sugarplum purple flecked with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter."  Aurora has almost a jelly finish. I used two coats for the above pics, but in sunlight you can see I should have added a thin third coat.  I love how the holo particles just seem to "swim" around in Aurora.  Aurora looks almost pink in sunlight and I love pinks, so this one is a favorite also.

Logan:
Logan

Logan
Zoya describes Logan as: "A full coverage, yellow-toned forest green with dense, foil-like yellow-gold and blue-green duochrome shimmer."  I love the blue undertones in Logan.  When I applied the first coat, it totally looked blue.  After two coats, you have a perfect forest green color and the hints of gold and blue are really beautiful.  This is a great holiday green that's not your traditional "Christmas Tree Green."  So festive and chic!!

**I love so much about Zoya's Ornate Collection!!  I love how each color is so versatile.. you can mix and match them all!  I love how Zoya chose colors that aren't your traditional Christmas Reds or Greens.  Zoya stepped out of their comfort zone with this collection and it really paid off because I haven't seen a collection as beautiful as this in a long time!!!  Yay Zoya.. you rocked it with this one!!**

Ultra long-wearing, glossy nail lacquers by Zoya are BIG5FREE - all formulas are completely free of harmful industrial chemicals such as toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) that are known to cause cancer and birth defects.

Dr.'s Remedy puts pink in the spotlight for Breast Cancer Awareness

Pink is the go-to hue this fall as beauty brands tap into every gradation of the standout shade in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Dr.'s REMEDY® leads the way in the fight for the cause by teaming up with Living Beyond Breast Cancer, whose mission is to empower all women affected by breast cancer to live as long as possible with the best quality of life.

The good-for-you ingredients and lack of toxins in Dr.'s REMEDY®Enriched Nail Polish offers a safer, healthier option for nail care, giving you peace of mind.  And, during the month of October,Dr.'s REMEDY is tickled pink to donate 10% of the proceeds from the sales of three pink shades to Living Beyond Breast Cancer, an organization who ensures that women who are newly diagnosed, in treatment, beyond treatment, at high risk or living with metastatic disease are well cared for by providing educational resources and support services relevant to their age at and stage of diagnosis.

NURTURE Nude Pink:

NURTURE Nude Pink is exactly as the name states... a nude pink.  The formula was a bit streaky and I used three coats for full opacity.  I'd really like this one as a "Palette Cleanser Color", but the formula kinda ruined it for me.

HOPEFUL HOT PINK:

HOPEFUL HOT PINK is extremely gorgeous!!  I've swatched this one before, but didn't mind swatching it again.  It's such a beautiful creamy bright pink.  Pink cremes are my favorite, so I'm really loving this one.  Pictured above is two coats.

PURITY PINK:

PURITY Pink almost has no color at all.  After three coats, visible nail line is still very apparent.  I could apply six coats and it would still be visible.  This one is not for me as my nails are slightly stained from all the swatching I do.  Purity Pink would be great for women who aren't permitted to wear bright colored polish to work or if you like light, plain polish.

Dr.'s REMEDY® Enriched Nail Polish is available for $17 online atwww.remedynails.com or by calling 1-877-323-NAIL.

Weekly Water Marble 10/16/12

Ahhh... I'm late (almost an entire week) for my Weekly Marble!  I've been swatching so many polishes, I hadn't had enough time to marble!!  This is just another random marble.  I just grabbed four polishes I thought would look nice together.. I was kinda searching for "Halloween Colors."  Here's what I came up with..

Weekly Water Marble:

The dreaded "water bubbles" are back and I think they come from the temperature of the water and my hands being too cool.  Over the summer, most of my marbles didn't bubble.. now that we have cooler weather, I'm noticing the bubbles.  Next week I'll place the water in the microwave for a few seconds and sit on my hands til they're warm lol.  Anyway, I started with a nude base. (Usually I'll start with a white base, but I've found when you use a nude base, the imperfections don't stick out as much).  Again, I used all OPIs for the marble-- Fly, Funky Dunkey, Black Onyx, and Need Sunglasses?.  I've decided OPI Fly is my favorite color to marble with..I love it!  Next week I'll step out of my comfort zone and marble with an other brand than OPI ;)

Enjoy your Tuesday!!

DIFFERENT Dimension Part 3

Happy Monday Everyone!  Today I have the last four polishes I received from Missi at DIFFERENT Dimension for swatching and review.  I received twelve polishes total.. and I really loved each one!!  The remaining four I'm showing you today are named after characters from Pretty Little Liars.. (sorry, I don't watch the show, but these polishes are pretty..)

Hanna:

Hanna contains a sheer lilac base packed with small magenta, white and periwinkle glitter.  Hanna almost looks patriotic.. the base almost looks blue and the glitters could pass for red, white, and blue.  I really like the color combo with Hanna.  Pictured above is two coats followed by topcoat.

Emily:

Emily has the exact same formula as Hanna except with a baby blue sheer base and white, blue, and light green glitter.  I have two coats of Emily followed by topcoat in the above pictures.  Visible nail line is a bit more apparent with Emily.  Maybe next time I'll layer it over a light blue base.

Spencer:
direct sunlight

Artificial light
Spencer is sooo incredibly gorgeous!!!  The red base is more jelly-like than Hanna and Emily and... the black, silver and HOLO glitters are completely amazing!!  If you love reds and holos, Spencer is definitely for you!!  Luckily the sun popped out for a few minutes and I was able to capture Spencer in direct sunlight.. it's so stunning.  Again, I have two coats, then topcoat.

Aria:
direct sunlight

artificial light
Aria is a really pretty purple shifting top coat (I guess you could wear it alone).  I have two coats of Aria over black followed by topcoat in the above pics.  Aria is beautiful in direct sun.  You can see tiny blue and pink specks.  This one would look awesome over so many bases.. the possibilities are endless!

**Ok, so I've swatched twelve polishes from DIFFERENT Dimension and had ZERO problems what-so-ever!!  I highly recommend any polish from DIFFERENT Dimension!!  You can still take advantage of my 20% OFF code CAPTIVATINGCLAWS20 until Oct 17th  here at DIFFERENT Dimension on Etsy.  Also, don't forget to like DIFFERENT Dimension here on facebook.**
