::whimsical ideas by pam:: Just Add Milk

Happy Weekend Everyone!!  Just a quick post today as I have a Holiday Party to attend in about an hour.  I was baking cookies with my step-daughters last night and thought Just Add Milk by ::whimsical ideas by pam:: would be the perfect polish to wear for the occasion! ;)  Here it is..

Just Add Milk:

Just Add Milk has a light brown caramel-y milky sheer base with dark brown and golden hex glitters.  This really reminds me of a chocolate chip cookie!!  I love the sheer layering base.. the glitters (chocolate chips) float around in different dimensions.  I used three coats of Just Add Milk for full coverage followed by topcoat.  I have a feeling I'll get my fill of cookies today at my Christmas Party.. HO HO HO!

Christmas Trees

Happy Wednesday Everyone!!  I finally found some time to try some Holiday Nail Art.. Christmas Trees!  The only nail art I'm semi-good at is water marbling, so these trees are a little wonky..

I started with a base of LVX Luxe.  After that completely dried I used nail stripers in blue, gold and red for the trees. (They're kinda wide because I kept going over them to make them even).  After the trees dried, I applied a thick coat of topcoat and used tweezers to place the top stars. :)  Happy Holidays Everyone!!

LVX Winter/Resort 2013 Collection

Happy Monday Everyone!  Today I have a gorgeous new collection from LVX to share with you.  It's The Winter/Resort 2013 Collection and it contains six amazingly beautiful colors. (I have a promo code at the bottom of this post for 30% off though 12/28/12).  I also have their 3 in 1 Treatment to review..

LVX Winter/Resort Collection:

Let's start off with the 3 in 1 Treatment:

This treatment works as a strengthener, basecoat and topcoat.  I really like the 3 in 1 Treatment by LVX.  I've been applying it as a strengthener for four days and I've been using it as a basecoat for all my swatches lately.  My nails are noticeably stronger and it works great as a basecoat.  I've used it for a topcoat a few times, but it isn't a "fast-dry" topcoat and I have no patience, so I probably won't be using it for my "go to" topcoat.  If you don't mind using a non-fast dry topcoat, this one is great once it's dry and does an excellent job at protecting your polish with a gorgeous shine!!

Creamfields:

Creamfields is such a pretty "winter white" with very subtle peach hues.  I wasn't crazy about this one in the bottle, but once I applied it to my nails, I fell in love.  The formula is a cream, but it's pretty sheer so I used three coats for full opacity in the above three pics.  I did apply the 3 in 1 Treatment on top of Creamfields so you could see the gorgeous glow.

Aubergine:

Aubergine is one of my favorite polishes EVER!!!  It's THE PERFECT eggplant cream, but I curse my camera for not capturing Aubergine's true color!  In real life this color is much darker and bluer.  My camera tends to make most purples look lighter and redder.  Image search "eggplant" and the true color of this polish will pop up..  LOL!  Pictured above is two flawless coats with no topcoat.. that shine is included with Aubergine... love.

Luxe:

I was excited to wear Luxe because it's the first shimmer I've tried from LVX and I wasn't disappointed!!  My first thoughts were: "Luxe would be perfect as a New Year's Eve Polish".  It's so sparkly and festive!!  Luxe is versatile (and you know I love a good versatile polish).. you can dress up any outfit with this!  And... it's a one-coater!!!  Seriously, I only used one coat in the above pics!!

Alchemy:

Alchemy is Luxe's sister-polish in gold.  It's just a brilliant and versatile as Luxe, but if you're drawn to golds, you'll love Alchemy!  The formula wasn't quite as opaque as Luxe, so I did use two coats of Alchemy in the above pictures!!  Hmmm, can't decide which one I like more..Alchemy or Luxe??  It's a good thing I own both! :)

Tribute:

Ahh, I have a love/hate relationship with blues.. especially dark deep ones like Tribute.  This color is gorgeous, but the potential to stain is so strong with blues.  Tribute is a royal rich shiny blue with a great formula, but it did stain.. ugh.  I will say it did NOT stain as badly as some blues, but my nails and cuticles (I tried so hard not to get any on my cuticles) had traces of this polish for a day or two.. It is lovely though, don't you think?  I have two coats of Tribute in the above pictures.

Dark Matter:

I'm a sucker for greys, so I knew right away I'd like Dark Matter (love the name)!  I really love this dark grey creme..  Yes, I have a few polishes similar to Dark Matter, but a girl can never have enough dark grey cremes (that's my philosophy anyway) :)  Pictured above it two coats of Dark Matter.

**Ok, so I'm head over heels about LVX!!  They are a new brand out of Chicago and their polishes are brilliant!!  Yes, they retail for $16, but I would totally rank them with Dior, Chanel, Deborah Lippmann and other "luxury brands."  LVX is my new favorite brand for 2012 and I recommend  you pick at least one up today.. especially since I have a 30% off promo code for you--  just use HOLIDAYBLOG30 and you will receive 30% off your entire order at shoplvx.com through 12/28/12!!!  (Grab Aubergine... it's amazing!!!)**

The long lasting, chip resistant and non-streak formula is free of harsh and toxic chemicals. LVX products are VEGAN and formulated without the use of Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, DBP, Toluene, and Camphor. The brand is dedicated to providing top quality, socially responsible, and eco-friendly, luxury products without compromising quality, durability and finish. LVX nail lacquer is cruelty free. All products are produced in the U.S.A. The new collection will be available December 7, 2012 on www.shoplvx.com.

The Precious Holo Collection from Mentality

Hey Everyone!!  Hope you're all well!  I patiently awaited until the sun came out to swatch this gorgeous collection from Mentality.  I'm glad I waited for the sun because each of these polishes from The Precious Holo Collection is remarkable..

"This collection features five jewel-toned inspired colors, with an accent sparkle and holographic effect to make your fingertips shine."

Flirt:

Flirt is a coppery red with beautiful sparkle and shine.  This polish is smooth to the touch and two coats are required for full opacity.  I did add topcoat to this one just for added shine!  I'm loving the holo-glow!!

Entice:

Entice is a warm golden brown polish with crazy-beautiful holo shine.  I'm usually not a fan of warmer  colors, but I really love Entice..  the color reminds me of rootbeer!!  I have two coats of Entice followed by topcoat in the above pics.  Another breath-taking holo!!

Charm:

Charm is my personal favorite of these five polishes.  It's a deep green, almost gray polish with gold and silver accents.  I love gray polishes, so this one caught my eye as soon as I saw the bottle.  The holo effect is amazing with Charm too.. it's flawless!

Tease:

Tease is a subtle lilac holo with pretty blue shine.  The holo effect is least noticeable with Tease.  That seems to hold true for most light blue or purple holos.  I didn't add topcoat to Tease and I should have..as it dried duller than the others.  Tease is made up of gorgeous colors, but if you're looking for a "knock-out" holo, I'd choose one of the others.

Seduce:

Whoa...Seduce is so beautiful!!  It's so highly pigmented, I almost used just one coat.  It's a deep royal blue with gorgeous red accent flecks and a gorgeous holo shine!  The formula with Seduce is superb!  Pictured above is two flawless coats.  I love this one too!!

**All of Mentality's polishes are great..  This is my third collection of polishes of theirs.. (I posted The Brilliant Collection and The Metallics earlier).  I love supporting Indie Polish Makers and I usually choose makers who use tons of glitter, so Mentality is a nice change.  Gorgeous polish and fantastic customer service.. what more could you ask for?**

--Each polish from The Precious Holo Collection can be purchased here for $7.75 each (this includes shipping)

Red Dog Designs Mele Kalikimaka

Hey Everyone!!  December is so busy for me!!  Ahh, I miss posting almost every day!  I promise I'll get back in to the swing of things after the holidays..  Speaking of the holidays, here is Mele Kalikimaka from Red Dog Designs' Holiday Music Collection..

Mele Kalikimaka:

Mele Kalikimaka is an Hawaiian themed Christmas song..  I love it from the movie Christmas Vacation!!  Sometimes I buy a polish just for it's name and that's what I did with Mele Kalikimaka..  thank goodness it's a beautiful glitter topper too!!  Mele Kalikimaka  contains ten different glitters in a clear base.  My favorites are the pink hexes, white squares and micro-fine holo glitters.  I layered two coats of Mele Kalikimaka over Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Yellow Kitty followed by topcoat.  We've had zero sun here, but I tried to capture this polish the best I could with very little natural light.  I love how "spring-y" it is even though it's a "holiday topper."  It's bright and cheerful and has an excellent formula!! :)

**You can purchase this polish plus many more from Red Dog Designs here on Big Cartel.
